RCMP have confirmed through an autopsy that the body found on a rural property near Bangor earlier this week as that of missing 64-year-old Ruby Barnes.
Police said they found Barnes’ body beside her vehicle around 1 p.m. on Monday.
Barnes was reported missing in June, after paying bills at the Carlyle Credit Union. She hadn’t been seen or heard from since then.
In July, her daughter had spoken to 980 CJME about the ongoing search efforts to find her.
According to RCMP, a preliminary investigation determined a single vehicle travelling on a remote gravel road appeared to have gone through a T-intersection and into dense bush and was not immediately visible from the road.
Police said Barnes’ death is not considered suspicious.
The Facebook group called “Bring Ruby Home” posted a status update on Wednesday, saying Barnes will be remembered as “an amazing woman that gave so much of herself to others and never expected anything in return.”
