The Saskatchewan government has announced the creation of a new support program to help struggling Royal Canada Legion and Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans (ANAVETS) units stay afloat.
The $100,000 fund will be included in the 2019-2020 budget.
“Past and present members of the Canadian Forces have taken it upon themselves to safeguard our freedoms and give back greatly to their communities,” Premier Scott Moe said in a media release. “Now it’s our turn to support our veterans.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a fundraising campaign by 980 CJME to help keep the doors open at Canada’s first legion.
More than $37,000 was raised during the Greg Morgan Morning Show Thursday.
