The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
The CFL will face one of the strangest and most challenging off-seasons in a long time as they deal with several things that could impact the quality on the field.
First is the CFLPA and the league trying to get a new deal done in collective bargaining as some are expecting a hard-line stance by the players that could impact training camps.
The league has also established a new salary cap on football operations that will limit scouting. They’ve also limited off-season workouts as well as free agent camps. Less opportunity to establish game plans as well as finding talent.
Then add to that a new football league that launches in February with CBS Sports as a partner, the CFL has a competitor to find talent there as well.
All teams will have to fight through this and it won’t be easy.
We may not truly start seeing the impact of all things in May when training camps start, but these things are already causing presidents, general managers and coaches headaches.
