The Regina Police Service has charged a Regina electrician with fraud and theft in connection with a lawsuit launched by the former Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region (RQHR).
In July 2017, Adrian Bechard was sued by the RQHR for what it claimed was a consistent scheme to overcharge.
AB Electric was contracted by between January 2011 to early 2017 for work at Regina’s Pioneer Village.
The payments made to AB Electric totalled $1,956,651.
After a lengthy investigation, police determined there was enough evidence to lay criminal charges for some of the allegations brought forward. The value of overbilling and improper invoicing as it relates to the criminal charges is believed to be approximately $24,000.
Bechard,39, is facing one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of Fraud over $5,000.
He will make his first court appearance Jan. 9, 2019.
