Dave Dickenson is right. Canada, outside of Calgary, isn’t really interested in watching the Calgary Stampeders play in another Grey Cup. It’s their fourth trip in the last five years. They’ve won one and lost the two most recent Grey Cups.
But here they are and all you can really do is respect their excellence, because despite losing back to back Grey Cups, you can’t deny getting there as often as Calgary has in the last half decade shows their dominance.
We should point out that Dickenson isn’t all the way right. There are those in Saskatchewan who have texted the Green Zone saying they do want Calgary in the Grey Cup, just so they can see them lose another one.
However, I’m not sure it happens this year. While Bo Levi Mitchell hasn’t been great of late and Trevor Harris of Ottawa will be coming off a six-touchdown game in the East final, that Calgary defence looks determined to swarm and devour everything that gets in their way.
I know many in Saskatchewan will be cheering on Ottawa. I also know Dave Dickenson will be using the hate toward his team to try to inspire them to great things on Grey Cup Sunday.
