Saskatoon’s first pot shop is open for business

More than a month since recreational cannabis became legal in Canada, Saskatoon’s first pot shop was able to open for business.

The Pot Shack opened its Grosvenor Avenue location, just off of 8th Street E. to a lineup of excited customers Tuesday afternoon.

With limited stock available, the store limited sales to one item per customer.

“I guess that’s what it is, you know supply and demand,” Wayne Nataucapo said while waiting outside to shop.

He’s glad that cannabis is becoming more mainstream.

“It’s nice that it’s open and it’s actually convenient,” Nataucapo said. “People don’t have to go anywhere but a store to get what they want.”

On Oct. 17 when stores were legally allowed to open their doors, only six in Saskatchewan were able to – including Jimmy’s Cannabis in Martensville.

Like many others, it struggled to keep the shelves stocked with the newly legal goods.
