As the Christmas party season swings into full gear this weekend, volunteer drivers with Operation Red Nose will also be out on the roads.
This is the 10th year for the program in Saskatchewan covering the cities of Regina, Saskatoon, the Battlefords, Prince Albert and Yorkton.
Anyone who feels impaired by alcohol, or perhaps legal cannabis this year, can call or contact Operation Red Nose through the phone app to get a safe ride home. Volunteer teams are also able to drive someone’s vehicle home for them.
The rides are offered free of charge, but donations are encouraged and all the money raised goes toward supporting local youth sports programs in the community. The affiliated local organizations running the service this year include the Queen City Kinsmen Club in Regina, the Saskatoon Millennium Lions, the Lions Club of Prince Albert, KidSport Battlefords and the Kinsmen Club of Yorkton.
The groups are still looking for local volunteer driving teams in each area and people can find information on how to sign up on their website.
