Regina police have taken nine people into custody after blocking off a stretch of Winnipeg Street between 11th Avenue and Victoria Avenue early Tuesday morning while responding to a gun call.
Officers were called to a house on the 1800 block of Winnipeg Street at 4:45 a.m. When they arrived they set up a safety perimeter and began making contact with people inside to get them out safely.
Nine people were taken into custody throughout the morning and all of them will be interviewed to determine the nature of their involvement in the incident or if they were involved at all. One person was injured and was treated at the hospital before being returned to the police station.
Police lifted the traffic blockade before 11:30 a.m. and advised neighbours the threat to safety was over. Police officers were expected to remain at the scene to conduct a search warrant at the house in question.
At this point in the investigation, there are no further details available to the public and no charges laid.
