Two men are dead after a head-on crash Thursday afternoon between a van and a pickup truck west of Moose Jaw.
Moose Jaw RCMP got two calls around 1:15 p.m. about a brown van driving the wrong way down the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near Parkbeg. A few minutes later, RCMP, paramedics and fire crews were all dispatched to a head-on collision between the van and a pickup truck.
Police said the 86-year-old driver of the van was from Regina and the 56-year-old driver of the truck was from Central Butte. There was no one else in either vehicle and both men died at the scene.
The highway was closed and traffic was rerouted for about six hours on Thursday to allow a traffic reconstructionist to analyze the scene. The highway reopened at 7:40 p.m.
RCMP said the men’s names would not be released publicly at this time.
