The increase that Moose Jaw taxpayers get for 2019 could be a bit higher than first proposed by city council.
At Wednesday night’s budget meeting, council added some big expenses including $146,000 for the new airport authority and $132,000 for the winter road maintenance budget.
These would add about a third of a per cent to the mill rate, bringing it up to 4.16 per cent from the originally proposed 3.82 per cent.
The mill rate likely won’t stay there though.
The last scheduled budget meeting is on Monday, and council has asked the city administration to come back with a list of possible cuts in the budget. They’re looking for savings worth about eight per cent.
