More stores closing at the Cornwall Centre

The Cornwall Centre is going to be a little emptier in the new year.

Leather-goods store Roots is set to close at the end of December, while The Gap and the connected Gap Kids stores are closing in mid-January.

The locations in that mall are in the only locations in Regina for both of those stores.

Shoe store Aldo closed a couple of months ago, though there is a temporary store in that space right now.

Aldo Group, the company that runs Aldo, said in an email that it closed the store after revising its strategy in the region.

The Aldo in the Cornwall Centre was the only location in Regina as well, though its parent company also operates Spring which remains in the mall.

With those closures, the Cornwall Centre will have seven vacant spaces, including the large vacancy left when Sears closed.
