Penny Marshall of Laverne and Shirley fame dead at 75

Iconic television actress and ground-breaking female director Penny Marshall has died at the age of 75.
Marshall is best known on screen for her role as Laverne in the hit 1970s sit-com Laverne and Shirley.
Her success continued behind the camera as she went on to direct Tom Hanks in the movie Big in 1988 and became the first woman to direct a movie that made over $100 million.
Marshall also directed the movie A League of Their Own starring Madonna and her own daughter Tracy Reiner as Betty.
TMZ is reporting she died at her home in Hollywood from complications due to diabetes.
