Mounties say alcohol may have been a factor in a deadly rollover east of Regina Thursday afternoon.
Broadview RCMP and Kipling Ambulance and Fire responded to the crash around 4 p.m on Highway 48 at Peebles, located approximately 130 km southeast of Regina.
The 33-year-old passenger inside the vehicle was declared dead on scene and the 29-year-old driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
“The single vehicle was travelling westbound when it lost control and rolled over, coming to a rest on the south side of the highway,” RCMP wrote in a news release Friday.
According to police, a preliminary investigation shows “alcohol impairment is a possible factor.”
Part of Highway 48 was closed and a detour was put in place after the crash on Thursday. It was reopened around 10:30 p.m.
Police continue to investigate with the help of RCMP Traffic Reconstruction.
