Regina police are investigating after they found a man dead on Friday afternoon.
They were first called to the 5000 block of Sherwood Drive at 4:45 p.m.
According to Staff Sergeant Chris Jackiw, the site they ended up at was a creek behind a convenience store to the south. He said the scene was released early Saturday morning.
This was close to where a missing University of Regina student was last seen.
While police did not say the two events were related, a volunteer search for Max Chukwudum was cancelled on Saturday.
Authorities are now working to identify the body of the man and alert his next of kin.
Police are working in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service to fully investigate and clarify the circumstances surrounding this death. Anyone who has information to assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
