A man arrested in connection to a robbery this weekend in Regina is also wanted on 43 warrants in Calgary after disappearing last summer.
Those warrants include allegations like sexual assault, overcoming resistance by choking, assault with a weapon and criminal harassment.
On Saturday, police arrested Philip Afolabi and a 17-year-old girl in a robbery that happened hours earlier at a home on Robinson Street, a few blocks west of Albert Street.
He’s charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with recognizance.
But Afolabi is also wanted in Calgary.
Last spring in Alberta he was arrested for crimes related to “serious domestic incidents,” according to Calgary police.
He was released on bail but disappeared, and police put him on their wanted list.
The Crown prosecutor on Afolabi’s case in Regina said they’re still working with Calgary police to figure out how to get him back there to face the charges in that city. She said for now they’re just opposing his release in Regina.
Calgary police said Afolabi will likely face his charges in Regina, then be moved to face his charges in Calgary.
