The RCMP have withdrawn charges of forcible confinement and uttering threats against a Regina-based RCMP officer.
The man had been charged after an incident that allegedly happened December 10, and was reported December 18.
RCMP confirmed the officer was arrested December 21, but the charges were withdrawn 10 days later, before the officer’s first court appearance.
According to RCMP, in discussions with Saskatchewan Public Prosecutions, they decided “the totality of the incident didn’t meet the threshold for prosecution”. So those two charges were withdrawn.
An RCMP code of conduct investigation is still happening, and the officer is on administrative duties for the time being.
His name wasn’t released when he was charged, RCMP said, to protect the victims.
