The Saskatchewan Roughriders Most Outstanding Rookie is on the move.
Receiver Jordan Williams-Lambert was moved to the CFL’s deferred list on Friday. That’s where players with an NFL option in their contracts are moved when they are about to sign with a NFL club.
Williams-Lambert participated in a series of NFL tryouts this off-season, after filing a grievance with the union that allowed him to do so.
The 24-year-old reportedly worked out for the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, New York Giants and New England Patriots, though there is no word yet where he has signed.
Not only was Williams-Lambert the Roughriders’ top rookie, but he also moved on to be named the west division’s Most Outstanding Rookie.
He caught 62 passes for 764 yards and four touchdowns in 2018.
If Williams-Lambert doesn’t sign with a NFL club, he’ll be required to return to the Roughriders for the 2019 CFL season.
