The day-long event welcomes over 250 female hockey players from ages four to 22.
A newspaper clipping from September 18, 1995 is being shared about a footnote to a Minnesota Twins story late that season.
Late in the year, a tiny blurb appeared saying Twins reliever Pat Mahomes left the team briefly to join his girlfriend for the birth of their son. He would rejoin the team tomorrow.
Born a day earlier, September 17th 1995 was Patrick Mahomes II. Of course, we are watching the junior Mahomes now blossom into one of the NFL’s star quarterbacks and he is a win away from getting to the Super Bowl in his first ever start.
I hope the Mahomes have that little piece of history somewhere in their keepsakes. I know we were blessed to have Rob Vanstone add our kid’s names to a tiny piece of news at the end of his Robservations column.
After the birth of our daughter in 2012 and our son in 2017, Rob added their names slyly to his column.
They were both the first name mentioned in his nice people who deserve a plug portion at the end of the column.
Will they be as notable as Patrick Mahomes? Maybe not, but it was still pretty cool.
