Regina police are looking for an alleged truck thief after he left a downtown street littered with glass, smashed up three cars and took out a parking meter.
Police said the collisions happened at about 6:30 Wednesday morning at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Rose Street.
The driver allegedly used a white, City of Regina Ford F350 to cause all of the damage; police said he stole it from a golf course outside the city.
In an emailed news release, police said the driver was going westbound on 12th Avenue when he crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a car at a stoplight.
He then continued on and smashed into parked vehicles nearby.
By 7:20 a.m., a tow truck crew was loading up the damaged vehicles, including the City of Regina truck.
The crew used three separate trucks to haul away the smashed-up vehicles. Chunks of glass and car parts littered the roadway, which the police closed off for a short time.
Police said the man ran away on foot; they’re now looking for him and are requesting any tips or help from the public in finding him.
Anyone with information about the theft or the downtown collisions should call Regina police at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers.
