It’s a time for Christmas parties, festivities and cheer – but people in Saskatchewan are still choosing to drive drunk.
According to numbers released by SGI on Tuesday, 352 people across the province were charged or had their licences suspended for driving under the influence last month – or roughly 11 people per day.
It breaks down to 306 criminal code violations and 46 roadside suspensions.
There were also 375 distracted driving offences in December, including 282 for using a cell phone.
As well, 287 tickets were issued for seatbelt or car seat violations and 4,771 for speeding or aggressive driving.
Police continue to focus on impaired driving for the month of January.
