The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are not allowing the Saskatchewan Roughriders to interview Paul LaPolice for the head coaching job.
So… how about a trade?
While, I’m not sure of the rules around it, I’m sure there shouldn’t be anything standing in the way of a team trading assets like draft picks or even monetary compensation.
We saw the Tampa Bay Buccanneers pay up big for Jon Gruden with millions of dollars and first and second round picks in the NFL. The Bucs would end up beating Gruden’s former team, the Raiders in the Super Bowl.
Hard to say it didn’t pay off for the Bucs for that one win, although the rest of Gruden’s career in Tampa was underwhelming.
But if the Riders really, truly believe LaPolice is the next leader to take them to the next level and develop a future star quarterback and win more championships, would a few draft picks or key neg-list players and/or money not be worth the gamble?
