Paul Henderson debate is always great and I thank our MPs in Ottawa for giving us another opportunity to discuss the hero of the ’72 summit series’ merits of being inducted into the hockey hall of fame.
You have the old guard that thinks anything from the ’72 summit series should be enshrined. It was the biggest series in hockey history.
Albeit all the hockey did was let Canadians feel good about themselves. Nobody was really interested outside the two countries and the cold war didn’t end because Paul Henderson scored.
As for Paul’s NHL career, it was average. His highest point total had him finish 34th in scoring that season and 17th in goals. He never won an individual award.
Paul himself, a year ago, stated he didn’t believe he deserved to be in the hall of fame when he sees the amount of players retired who he’d consider before himself.
So, how about you all agree with him? Because he’s right.
