Future Indigenous entrepreneurs are getting a new mentor, thanks to a generous contribution from the family who owns Rawlco Radio.
Bradyn Parisian has been announced as the first Rawlinson Executive in Residence at the University of Regina.
In this role, Parisian will focus on promoting Indigenous entrepreneurship and fostering the skills, knowledge and networking needed to make Indigenous business ventures a success.
“We are delighted to have Bradyn on board and we are eager to create more opportunities for Indigenous students who are aspiring entrepreneurs,” expressed Dr. Gina Grandy, Dean of the U of R’s business school, in a news release.
“It is through the continued generous support from our community, such as the gift from the Rawlinsons, that we are also able to make a positive economic and social impact on our surrounding communities.”
Parisian is the founder and CEO of Mo’Solar Company and holds corporate directorships with First Nations Power Authority, Black Lake Venture and Cowessess Ventures.
“I was the recipient of a Rawlinson scholarship designed to support Indigenous students during my studies at University of Regina and I believe this role is another way through which we can create opportunities for Indigenous students,” Parisian said.
“I am deeply honoured to serve in this prestigious position and above all else, my mission is to serve as a trusted mentor to Indigenous students on campus and encourage them to ‘dream big.’”
This position has been funded by Gordon and Jill Rawlinson, who own Rawlco Radio.
“I want the university to empower this country’s up-and-coming Indigenous business leaders by giving them a world-class business education right here in my home province,” said Gordon.
Parisian will be in the role for two years.
