Snowfall warnings covered the southeast corner of Saskatchewan Sunday morning.
Environment Canada meteorologist Sara Hoffman said places like Estevan and Assinaboia will see the most snow with about 10 to 15 centimetres, or up to half a foot.
Once that happens, she forecasts winds to pick up, making blowing snow and reduced visibility a possibility on the highways.
With little snow accumulation the night before, southern Saskatchewan is expecting to see snow on Sunday.
“The most significant accumulations will fall just south of Regina. We’re not expecting a snowfall warning to be expanded to Regina at this time. We are expecting a few centimetres over the course of today,” said Hoffman.
Extreme cold weather hits central, northern Saskatchewan
Environment Canada’s also issued extreme cold warnings in central and northern Saskatchewan, which Regina and Saskatoon could see a taste of as well.
Cold warnings are issued after two consecutive hours of windchill values of -40 C.
Hoffman forecasts the cold temperatures lasting well into the week.
