Vehicles parked on main roads south of Regina’s downtown will have to park elsewhere Tuesday morning as the city’s snow routes come into effect.
The city uses the snow routes to more easily clear areas around Victoria Avenue, Winnipeg Street and College Avenue after at least five centimetres of snow falls.
The snow route begins at 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning and lasts until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The routes include:
- Victoria Avenue between Broad Street and Winnipeg Street
- Winnipeg Street between Victoria Avenue and College Avenue
- College Avenue between Winnipeg Street and Arcola Avenue
Signs with a blue snowflake denote these areas as well.
Vehicles parked along snow routes will be ticketed.
Snow clearing
As of Monday afternoon, City of Regina snowplows were still in storm mode.
“There’s more snow in the forecast and we want to make sure that we don’t have to go out there twice and do the same operations,” explained director of roadways and transportation, Norman Kyle.
He said the plows will likely revert back to a systematic plow of Category 1 and 2 streets Tuesday morning. Residential streets would then be plowed on an as-needed basis.
