I missed Maroon 5.
Gladys Knight, too, although I heard her national anthem was a highlight of Super Bowl LIII.
Sunday was spent trying to get home from Grande Prairie, Alta. GP is a fine, progressive city with a jealousy-inducing indoor recreation complex, the Eastlink Centre. It’s got a huge swimming pool with slides, hot tubs, a wave pool and a surfing simulator, which seemed out of place while the snow and the temperature kept falling. Beside the huge gym were four racquetball courts, where I spent most of the weekend until it was time to fly home and watch the Patriots play the Rams.
The weather and the airlines didn’t co-operate. We landed in Calgary right after the game’s only touchdown and before New England’s game-clinching interception. Tom Brady won his sixth ring, got interviewed, and we went back to waiting for our next, delayed flight. Apparently, in comparison, my day wasn’t so bad.
