Should coaches win the MVP award?
Turn it into the most valuable person, rather than player, because Super Bowl 53 was Bill Belichick’s Super Bowl.
The defence of the Patriots went up against the second best offence in the NFL, after beating the best offence in the NFL two weeks previous in the AFC Championship game.
Yes, the game was a bore and 13-3 was as sleep inducing of a Super Bowl as we have ever seen, however, let’s give the credit to the coach who did the best to prepare his team for the Rams offence.
Remember, much was made of the Patriots Super Bowl run beginning with a win over the St. Louis Rams and the greatest show on turf.
Like way back in 2002, Belichick was able to find a way to limit a high powered offence. This Super bowl, his defence almost pitched a shutout.
Though Julian Edelman was crowned Super Bowl MVP, there was a much more deserving honouree for putting a 13-3 win together, Bill Belichick.
Once again, proving defences do win championships.
