Rent reduced for Riders, early budget items approved by Regina Council

Council retroactively slashed $1.33 million in rent owed by the Roughriders.
A decrease to SaskEnergy bills is on the horizon this spring.
The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel approved SaskEnergy’s application to lower the commodity rate and raise the delivery rate.
The rise in the delivery rate means an extra $18 per year, however, a significant decrease to the commodity rate means the average home will see its bill decrease $85 per year.
In its application, SaskEnergy said the need for a delivery charge increase as because the Crown is spending more on capital costs, transportation and storage.
If approved by provincial cabinet, the new rate will take effect in April.
