It’s time for Jamie Nye, Woodsy and me to march into the boss’ office with a few demands. Well, with the frigid Saskatchewan weather these days, we have only one demand: A business trip!
There’s a sports-talk radio show in the Vancouver market, hosted by Matt Sekeres and Blake Price, which is similar to the Green Zone. For four days this week they will be conducting their TSN radio show live from Hawaii. They’re apparently in Hawaii to cover a soccer team — the Vancouver Whitecaps are holding training camp on the tropical island, so Sekeres and Price will most certainly be working hard in Honolulu.
Camp concludes with a four-team tournament, called the Pacific Rim Cup. And afterwards the Whitecaps will finalize their rebuilt roster during a week-long camp in Los Angeles.
Granted, there’s little Saskatchewan interest in Vancouver’s MLS team. Maybe that’s because Jamie, Woodsy and I don’t talk enough about the Whitecaps. That’s what we’re going to tell the boss, anyway. If you don’t hear from us in the next few days it’s because we’re on our way to Hawaii . . . or else the boss really didn’t like our idea.
