More charges for man already facing 2nd-degree murder charge

Further charges have been laid against 24-year-old Kegan Riley Muxlow of Weyburn. Already facing a second-degree murder charge stemming from a home invasion on Jan. 4, Weyburn Police charged Muxlow with one count of attempted murder on Monday.

Deputy Chief Rod Stafford said the investigation into the incident has been ongoing.

“The investigators have talked to numerous people in terms of trying to determine exactly the events leading up to that evening and looking at motive and all that kind of thing and as a result of some of those interviews, new information surfaced that continued to be investigated,” explained Stafford.

Weyburn Police investigators arrested Muxlow at the Regina Correctional Centre yesterday on the new charge.

The name of the victim will not be released, but Stafford did say it is not one of the three involved in the Jan. 4 incident, including Nathan Hutt, who was the victim of the homicide that led to Muxlow’s second-degree murder charge.

“This involves another victim from earlier that evening,” shared Stafford.

Muxlow appeared in Weyburn Provincial Court by video this morning. His lawyer Darren Kraushaar requested a bail verification report, which is being prepared for next week. An electronic monitoring assessment report has also been ordered.

These matters will come before the Court of Queen’s Bench at a time yet to be set.

Muxlow has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance on March 12 in Weyburn Provincial Court unless he is released sooner on bail.
