Schools buses across southern Saskatchewan have been cancelled due to the extreme cold and wind chill values.
Public and Catholic school divisions in Regina and Moose Jaw have cancelled their bus services for students; their schools still remain open today.
Moose Jaw’s public school division, Prairie South, covers regions outside of the city, too, stretching down to Assiniboia and the U.S. border, west to Vanguard and north Craik.
The Prairie Valley School Division cancelled all of its bus services, too, but schools are open. It covers Lumsden and areas north and east of the town.
As of 6:20 a.m. the temperature in Regina was -42 C with a wind chill value of -52 C.
Piapot School in Fort Qu’Appelle is closed for the day.
Swift Current’s Chinook School Division has all of its buses in the city running today; some of the division’s rural routes have been cancelled, and parents in those areas have been notified by the drivers.
