Extreme cold warnings are still in effect for much of the province but the good news is that relief is in sight.
“We’ve had a very extensive area of extreme wind chills last night and those are just slowly starting to abate this morning,” said David Bagley, meteorologist for Environment Canada.
The high for Regina is forecast at -22 C with a wind chill value of -33 C.
For the first few days of the work week, highs in the provincial capital are expected to be slightly warmer, at -19 C.
While the warning has ended in Saskatoon, the city will still see similar temperatures.
Bagley said while it’s a slight warm-up, temperatures are still about 10 degrees below seasonal.
Extreme cold warnings have already ended in the Assiniboia, Gravelbourg and Cornach areas.
As well, the southern part of the province could see some snow.
“We do have a band of relatively-light snow pushing in from the south, slowly for the next 12 to 24 hours. Accumulation in some areas could be between two to four centimetres,” Bagley said.
