Two Yorkton men hunting last September had more than just tags in their vehicles.
They pleaded guilty to being high while hunting and having cannabis in their vehicle, all the while a loaded gun was sitting next to them.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of the Environment announced the charges in an emailed news release Tuesday.
The pair was hunting on Wildlife Development Fund lands near Calder, Sask.; Duck Mountain conservation officers found them.
They found the men sitting in a parked vehicle on lands that were marked for foot access only.
When the officers approached the vehicle, they smelled burning weed; they found a loaded gun inside, along with the pot.
They’ve both had their hunting licenses suspended for two years.
One man, a 37-year-old, was charged with driving with a suspended licence and operating a vehicle on Wildlife Lands. He was fined $1,250.
The other man, a 20-year-old, was charged with having a loaded firearm in a vehicle and fined $1,480.
