After the departures of Willie Jefferson and Tobi Antigha, the Saskatchewan Roughriders looked to a familiar face on the defensive line to fill the void.
Defensive end A.C. Leonard is returning to the Green and White after spending the last season with the Ottawa Redblacks, making 49 defensive tackles and six sacks.
But before his venture east, Leonard spent most 2016 and 2017 with the Riders, making 66 tackles, 10 sacks and one forced fumble.
Leonard signed a one year deal for 2019.
Riders add quarterback Cody Fajardo
On Wednesday, Jeremy O’Day said he was in talks with a couple of experienced CFL back-ups. Thursday, he signed one – though maybe not one that anyone was expected.
The club announced that quarterback Cody Fajardo has inked a deal. The 25-year-old spent three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, including being the short yardage quarterback in 2017 when the club won the Grey Cup.
In fact, Rider fans may be familiar with Fajardo as the quarterback who scored the game-winning touchdown in the east final – the game that sent the Argos on to win the Grey Cup and the Riders home.
Fajardo seems very happy to be coming to Saskatchewan.
Words can’t explain how excited I am to be joining the great organization of the @sskroughriders, and very eager to get to know the fans that make this team so much fun to be a part of! Im glad I’ll be wearing the right team colors the next time I step into Mosaic Stadium.

Holley to Ottawa
The man who scored the first regular-season touchdown at the new Mosaic Stadium is on the move.
Receiver Caleb Holley joined the Ottawa Redblacks, the team announced Thursday.
Holley played just nine games in 2018, making 14 receptions for 213 yards.
