Today the CFLPA will give notice to the league to begin bargaining.
And if you look around free agency with quarterbacks getting paid almost $200,000 more than they were last year.
Receiver Derel Walker’s salary is near 300-thousand dollars for the top non-QB salary and the Riders signed Micah Johnson to a salary that ups the ante for defenders in the league.
Clearly, the presidents in the league that know there will be more money to spend.
The CFLPA wants a fair deal, one they don’t feel they’re getting now. In terms of money, it’s looks one sided. Remember the last negotiation there was talk the salary cap could have been a million more per year and owners wouldn’t be anywhere close to going broke.
At the time, the PA was disorganized with an executive change six weeks before the negotiation started and it showed with their current deal.
Now, they are much more prepared. And by the way the managers have been spending money this week, look for a decent and much deserved bump in the salary cap.
