Cowbells and watermelons. They may not be items that Manny Arceneaux owns or is fond of on their own, but attach a rabid fan base to them and the 31-year-old receiver is all in.
On Tuesday’s edition of The Green Zone, Arceneaux was quick to point out that this is a market he is looking forward to playing in. Likewise, Roughriders fans can’t wait to see the “Manny Show” in full flight.
The eight-year CFL veteran is coming off a knee injury, so I would suggest caution when assessing expectations for 2019. The four-time 1,000-yard receiver dressed for just nine games last year with B.C. and whenever he gets on the field, be it August or sooner, he may need some time to get up to speed with new coaches and new surroundings.
Arceneaux’s biggest contributions in Year 1 for the Riders may be more in leadership than production. He may want to prove people like me wrong and excel at both in 2019, which those who ring cowbells and wear watermelons would welcome.
