A Nipawin, Sask. man has been charged after allegedly threatening the Prime Minister and Parliament.
RCMP began investigating on Feb. 12 when David Petersen allegedly called a government agency and threatened to shoot Justin Trudeau and blow up the Parliament Buildings.
The call was reported to RCMP shortly after. They arrested 52-year-old Petersen on Feb. 27. He’s charged with uttering threats against the Prime Minister and against Parliament.
RCMP said there has been no contact between the prime minister and Petersen, but the Saskatchewan National Security Enforcement Section is still investigating.
Petersen is set to appear in court on March 6.
This is not a first for Saskatchewan; a 34-year-old man was sentenced in December of 2017 for threats he made on social media against the prime minister.
