Twenty-five long term care residents who were relocated after a water leak at the Leader health care facility in February will be able to move home on Monday.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority said it’s made numerous upgrades to the facility since the Feb. 7 incident including the addition of insulation to the area where the water line break happened, water line repairs and testing and replacement of damaged electrical panels.
“A water line break on one of the coldest nights of the year is certainly adding insult to injury,” Executive Director of Primary Health Care Southwest Bryce Martin said in an emailed media release. “The residents impacted, their families and the community of Leader and surrounding area were very accommodating given the circumstances and we’re grateful for their patience while repairs were underway.”
The SHA also had air quality tests done to ensure it was safe for the residents to return.
The hospital, emergency room and primary care areas are also set to re-open Monday at 10 a.m.
