A 17-year-old Regina male is facing charges of extortion and uttering threats after an incident that began on social media.
On Monday, a female student at a Regina high school told police she had been approached on social media and asked to send nude photos to an anonymous messenger. When the girl said she wouldn’t send the pictures, the messenger tried to extort her by threatening to shoot up or blow up her school.
Police investigated the incident and arrested the 17-year-old male.
The teen can’t be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. His first court appearance is set for April 23.
