While some people might be seasoned veterans when it comes to camping and already have their supplies ready for the season, the province is once again offering a program to help make things easier for others.
The Camp-Easy program will once again be provided to help people enjoy all the perks of camping without the need to go out and buy a bunch of equipment.
Deanna Jacobs, director of visitor experience and public programming with the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, told the 980 CJME Greg Morgan Morning Show on Wednesday that the ministry received a lot of positive feedback from last year and expanded the program this year.
“It really takes a lot of the stress out of camping because the tent and now the yurts are set up and ready to go with the supplies that you need,” she said.
Camp-Easy sites include:
• Large tent/yurt on a wooden platform
• Sleeps six (cots: two bunk beds and two singles)
• Screened dining tent
• Stove and propane tank
• Two lanterns
• Two wash bins
• Six camping chairs
• Six roasting sticks
• Axe
The only things the program doesn’t supply for the camper are their bedding and food.
Jacobs said it’s reasonably priced as well — $65 a night plus the park entry fee.
The Camp-Easy locations are:
• Blackstrap — two tents
• Buffalo Pound — two tents
• Crooked Lake — two tents
• Echo Valley — two tents and one yurt
• Good Spirit Lake — one tent and one yurt
• Narrow Hills — one yurt
• Meadow Lake — two yurts
• Saskatchewan Landing — two tents
