Two days of warm weather. That’s all it took.
All that snow we dutifully shovelled from our driveways and sidewalks this winter has quickly turned into ugly, icy snowpiles and huge, deep, dirty puddles. Look out pedestrians!
Winter was definitely here. We had more days of minus-30 through February than anyone can remember, but it also seemed to be snowing every few hours. So every couple days, out came the shovels and snowblowers. The snowpiles in everyone’s front yard got bigger and bigger. I even met a long-time neighbour when he graciously steered his snowblower in my vicinity to clear the sidewalk, ensuring the newspaper carrier and postal worker wouldn’t hate me.
My back still aches while the snow in my yard is vanishing. I thought I had moved record-setting amounts, but it was obviously a dry snow and it evidently wasn’t intending to stay until April. Let me say this without jinxing the arrival of spring: Hooray!
