After public outrage over its decision to not let a group home be built in one of its newest neighbourhoods, Weyburn’s city council is taking another look at its decision.
Council was under fire after members made comments about the group home and how it would affect the neighbourhood. Members have since apologized for their statements.
In a statement issued Tuesday, council indicated it met with a few different groups including the Ministry of Social Services, Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, Weyburn Group Home Society and Terra Developments on Monday to discuss the needs for a new group home.
The application for the group home will be brought forward at the earliest possible meeting while adhering to the city’s procedures and bylaws.
Council said all parties left the Monday meeting feeling the direction going forward will get the home built in the Creeks.
