Five people are facing first-degree murder charges in connection to a 22-year-old man’s death in Prince Albert Friday.
The accused include four men — aged 31, 23, 23 and 21 — and a 19-year-old woman. All five are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday morning in provincial court.
On Friday afternoon, officers were called to the Rivercrest apartment building for a complaint of an assault.
Once on scene, officers found a 22-year-old man in critical condition. The man was transported to the Victoria Union Hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say the deceased and the suspects are known to each other.
An autopsy for the man is scheduled for later this week.
This is the Prince Albert Police Service’s fourth homicide this year, and the second at the same downtown apartment building in less than a week.
Police were called to the same apartment building two days earlier in response to an unconscious infant. The two-year-old boy later died in hospital.
Police have said the two homicide investigations do not appear to be related.
