The University of Regina and its faculty association have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
In a joint statement issued Monday evening, U of R president Vianne Timmons and University of Regina Faculty Association president Sylvain Rheault announced that a deal had been reached.
“URFA’s bargaining team will present the agreement to its members and recommend that the agreement be ratified through a vote,” the statement read. “Details of the tentative agreement will not be made public until it is accepted.”
While reacting to the provincial budget, Timmons suggested Thursday that the university’s financial challenges could impact discussions with the union. The faculty association served strike notice on Friday, bringing a strike one step closer.
But the sides met again Monday and hammered out a deal.
