With news the NFL pre-season game is likely a no-go for Regina, there are fans saying the NFL can stay the heck out of Canada.
It would be like a WHL market like Regina or Saskatoon blocking an NHL team from playing in its arena.
You cannot deny the NFL is huge and there is no way the Riders, fans or protectionist media members are going to convince fans to watch Canadian football just because they’re Canadian.
So what if an NFL pre-season game is played in Regina, Edmonton or Winnipeg this summer? Let’s be proud of the fact the Canadian Football League is a superior game in regards to rules and the kicking game and that watching an NFL pre-season game will highlight that.
If you’re going to have an inferiority complex over your product, you’re never going to thrive.
It’s why Randy Ambrosie, the commissioner of the league, continues to drive home that the CFL is the second-best football league in the world and we should be damn proud of that.
Blocking the No. 1 league from playing a one-off pre-season football game is petty and short-sighted.
