A fifth charge of sexual assault has been filed against a former Regina doctor.
Sylvester Ukabam, 73, initially was charged in November with sexual assaults that allegedly occurred while he was a practising physician in the city.
The latest charge was added to coincide with Ukabam’s appearance in court on Monday on the first four charges.
According to a media release issued Friday by the Regina Police Service (RPS), the circumstances leading to the fifth charge were similar to those that resulted in the previous four charges. The newest allegations were made in December.
The RPS said a 42-year-old woman who was a patient of Ukabam alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by him while he was conducting a physical examination “even though the so-called examination had nothing to do with the patient’s medical complaint.”
The offences allegedly occurred between Jan. 1, 2010 and Jan. 1, 2015.
