A routine traffic stop has resulted in drug trafficking charges against two men.
According to a media release issued Friday by the RCMP, an officer stopped a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Highway 16 west of Maidstone on Wednesday afternoon because it had illegal window tinting.
During the stop, the actions of the Jeep’s two occupants made the officer suspicious and he detained the men. A subsequent search turned up about 10.5 ounces of methamphetamine, a supply of Canadian currency, a digital scale and several cell phones.
The occupants — one from Regina and one from Spruce Grove, Alta. — were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Their first court appearances are set for May 28 in Lloydminster.
