The arrival of April brings changes to the city’s schedules.
Starting Monday, garbage collection in Regina changes from bi-weekly to weekly. The specific day of the week for each area’s collection will remain the same as it currently is.
The city’s landfill will switch to its spring/summer hours Monday.
As a result of that change, the landfill will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It also will be open on statutory holidays.
The city also says it’s going to be more active filling potholes in the coming weeks, with its work based on location and severity of the potholes.
High-traffic roads will be worked on first, followed by potholes that may affect underground infrastructure, with residential roads being done after that.
The city’s street sweeping program is to begin Sunday, when city crews are to start sweeping boulevards and medians. Major roads are to follow, with streets in subdivisions to follow about three weeks later.
Signs will be placed in neighbourhoods to tell residents when sweepers will be in their areas. The schedule and a map will be available on Regina.ca.
Workers also are to be picking up litter in the city soon, although the city is hoping residents can pitch in by picking up any litter they see.
