The man at the centre of Tuesday’s police operation near the General Hospital appeared in court Wednesday to face 24 charges.
Shiloh Blue Keewatin, 25, was arrested Tuesday after the Regina Police Service’s SWAT team and crisis negotiators descended on the 2000 block of Ottawa Street.
In a media release issued Wednesday, the RPS revealed its Street Gang Unit started getting reports March 26 about the possible assault and forcible confinement of an unknown woman.
A subsequent investigation determined the identity of both the woman and the suspect. That led to Tuesday’s actions on Ottawa Street and to Keewatin’s arrest.
The 24 charges against him include two of aggravated assault, three of forcible confinement, three of uttering threats and three of pointing a firearm. He also faces 12 other firearms charges and one of possession of methamphetamine.
The RPS is continuing its investigation into the incidents.
