Regina police have charged a 30-year-old man with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing in the south end of the city on Tuesday night.
Police say the incident took place on Birchwood Road. Officers were called to the 1100 block of Kramer Boulevard at about 8:45 p.m., where they found a 21-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries.
“I walk quite late at night. I didn’t hear of such an incident before but if it’s true, that’s alarming,” said Farial Syed, who studies at the University of Regina. “Sometimes I’m coming from the university at 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. at night and I’m walking alone.”
Another student, Brooklin Gillie, was also alarmed. Gillie has night classes and isn’t afraid to walk the streets in the early morning.
“Even at 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m. I’ve always walked, so that’s kind of scary,” she said.
The accused was due in court on Wednesday.
